I love filmmaking, and editing is a part of film production that is hard to beat.
There is nothing like sitting in a quiet office, piecing together dailies into a scene, selecting temporary sound fx and music, ambient noise....deciding which take is best. When to cut to where. How showing something first or later affects the emotional flow or meaning of the scene....the list is endless. It is what I do as a Hollywood Editor in Los Angeles, CA and Austin, TX.
My experience as an editor is with independent film - from drama to thriller to comedy. I currently cut using Avid and love the software as it offers a fast, stable platform to help creative vision come to life. My next system will be Final Cut since they are more independent film friendly, support new cameras faster and allow you to do so much more with so much less. If Avid comes around some day and realizes that all the new editors coming to play are using Final Cut because of price point (not on the software so much as hardware for HD monitoring, etc.) they might have a chance. Otherwise, if Avid continues on their current path they will be out of the game completely in the very near future.
However I digress, thought platform matters it doesn't at all. All that matters about a film is STORY. A great story is not only rewarding to work on, but amazing for the audience who gives of their time to watch a picture.

Directing
Current directing credits are limited to short films, but 2011 will change that. Stay tuned for my first feature length credit! My last project as director was an eleven minute short film for a wedding invitation DVD. Novel ideal right? Theater Eleven thought so. We wrote, produced, directed, edited and produced DVD art work. An all-in-one customer solution!

DVD Case Design / DVD Menu Creation
Your film is cut and finished. You have a trailer, but you need DVD artwork created and you need a cool menu. Once again, Theater Eleven is here to meet that need. Using tools such as DVD Studio Pro and Apple Compressor or Sorenson Squeeze, I can master your footage and create your menu, case art and DVD art. I even have a great contact that offers superior services and pricing for DVD replication.
Whether you are an independent director in need of an experienced editor, or a business looking for a website to market your services, Theater Eleven is a great place to visit. You can have a single creative source help you with your film, create your website and help you rank in Google. Is that the norm for a Hollywood editor? Not really. It is the norm for Theater Eleven.
